Looking for a fast and easy side dish? Try these frozen Brussel sprouts in the air fryer. Tender crisp Brussel sprouts are roasted to perfection in less than 15 minutes.
The air fryer is probably my favorite kitchen appliance. We use it almost everyday for a variety of things like chicken, french fries, roasted vegetables and more.
One of the best ways to use an air fryer is for frozen food. Everything can be cooked straight from frozen with little to no oil. The air fryer cooks by circulating heat around the food so it gets nice and crispy on the outside while staying tender on the inside.
Why this recipe works
- A great way to make Brussel sprouts. These can be cooked straight from frozen, no thawing required. My favorite way to roast Brussel sprouts to get delicious crispy edges.
- This is a quick air fryer recipe and can be made in about 15 minutes. Perfect for a delicious side dish.
- Frozen Brussel sprouts tend to cook more evenly than fresh and they don’t need to be cleaned or cut.
- Great for simple meal prep. Make a double batch for meals during the week.
- A healthy side dish that works well for Keto, Whole30, and Paleo meals.
What you need
Frozen Brussel sprouts – Keep them frozen until ready to cook.
Olive oil – This is an optional ingredient but I like using it to get a nice, crispy outer layer.
Salt and Black Pepper– Used for added seasoning.
Air Fryer – I’m using a Cosori 5.8 quart basket style air fryer. This will also work for an “oven style” air fryer.
How to cook frozen brussel sprouts in the air fryer
Step one: Place frozen Brussel sprouts in the air fryer basket. Make sure to spread them out in a single layer.
Step two: Cook at 390 degrees F for 7 minutes. Shake the basket to flip over the Brussel sprouts. Spray the sprouts with a little olive oil (or your favorite cooking oil), and cook at 390 degrees for another 6-7 minutes.
You will want the Brussel sprouts to start to turn golden brown and caramelize on the outside for the best flavor.
Step three: Carefully remove from the basket of the air fryer and season with salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning.
Recipe tips
- Make sure to cook them in a single layer and don’t overcrowd the basket.
- For the best results, don’t forget to flip them or shake the basket halfway through cooking to make sure they cook evenly.
- If you don’t have an oil mister, you can drizzle a little oil over the tops of the Brussel sprouts and shake the basket to coat them.
- Each air fryer cooks a little differently so make sure to keep an eye on the Brussel sprouts the first time making them.
- These can be cooked without oil.
How to serve brussel sprouts
These air fryer frozen Brussel sprouts are great served with just a little salt and pepper but here are a few other ideas:
Seasonings: Try using your favorite seasonings like Italian seasoning, Greek seasoning, garlic powder, and more.
Sauce: Drizzle with sauce or use for dipping. These pair well with sauces like ranch, garlic sauce, Campfire sauce, Boom Boom sauce, balsamic glaze and more.
Toppings: Try sprinkling with chopped bacon, Parmesan cheese, or balsamic vinegar.
How to store
Store: If you have leftovers, let them completely cool and store in an airtight container. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. After that they start to get soft.
Reheat: Reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees F. for 6-7 minutes.
