Making your own homemade iced vanilla latte couldn’t be easier. Simple ingredients like chilled coffee, a splash of cream, and vanilla syrup. This recipes tastes just like your local coffee shop and perfect for all coffee lovers.

You can make your coffee shop favorites at home like this easy cinnamon roll latte and caramel latte. It’s so simple and more cost effective than the typical coffee shop drink.

Iced Latte vs Iced Coffee

There is not a big difference between an iced latte and an iced coffee. Lattes tend to have more cream added and are made with espresso. Iced coffee drinks can either be served black or with a small amount of milk.

What you need

  • Coffee – Use your favorite coffee or espresso for this recipe. I am using Starbuck’s French Roast.
  • Cream – I am using heavy cream but feel free to substitute with half and half, whole milk, soy milk, oat milk, or almond milk.
  • Simple syrup – Make your own homemade vanilla syrup or you can use a bottled vanilla syrup.

Step one: Coffee – Start by making your favorite coffee or espresso. Let it cool and then put it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to chill.

Step two: Simple syrup – In a saucepan, bring water, sugar, and vanilla extract to a boil. Stir together until the sugar dissolves. Let the simple syrup cool.

Step three: Once everything is cold, place ice in a glass.

Step four: Divide the brewed coffee or espresso, cream, and simple syrup in each glass. Stir to combine.

How to make a skinny latte

Make your iced latte with few calories by substituting with no-fat milk or 2% milk and sugar free vanilla syrup.

Tips for a great drink

  • When making the coffee, brew it a little stronger than normal to ensure you keep the flavor once the ice starts to melt.
  • Make sure all of the ingredients are cold before making a drink.
  • You could also use cold brew coffee.
  • Try making coffee ice cubes to use.

Variations

  • Place all of the ingredients in a blender with ice for a frappe.
  • Top the iced vanilla latte with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon.

How to store simple syrup

Make a double recipe of the simple syrup and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. This way you can make drinks throughout the week.

This couldn’t have come at a better time as I am trying to avoid leaving the house. Self quarantining isn’t fun but at least, I can still have a latte at home!
