Cooking frozen food in the air fryer is easy, quick and always produces tasty, crispy food. We like making things like frozen okra, frozen biscuits and frozen chicken strips.

If you haven’t added an air fryer to your kitchen it’s something I would definitely recommend considering. We use ours almost everyday because they are simple to use, cook fast, and are really easy to clean.

What you need

Frozen waffle fries – Use your favorite frozen waffle fries like Alexia, Ore-Ida and store brand. You can even use sweet potato waffle fries.

Air fryer – I am using a 5.8 quart machine for this recipe. There are many different wonderful brands and models of air fryers.

How to make

Once you make fries this way, you will not want to make them in the oven again. They come out with a tasty crisp texture without any extra oil.

  1. Spread frozen waffle fries out in air fryer basket in a single layer. No need to preheat.
  2. Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes, shake the fries to flip them over in the basket and then cook another 5 minutes.
  3. Check the fries and if needed cook another 1-3 minutes or until cooked to your preference. If you are adding seasoning, sprinkle it on immediately after they finish cooking. .

How to serve

Waffle fries make a great side dish to many things like cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches and wraps. They are also great dipped in sauces like ketchup, boom boom sauce and Chick-Fil-A sauce. We even like using them as nachos instead of tortilla chips, yum!

How to reheat

If you find that you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You don’t want to refreeze them. To reheat, simply put them back in the air fryer and cook at 350 for 3-4 minutes or until warmed through.

Tips

  • Waffle fries will differ in thickness and size depending on the brand. This can effect cook time. Different air fryer models also cook a little different so that can also make a difference in cook time.
  • One other thing to keep in mind is the amount of fries you have in the basket. The more fries, the longer cook time you might need. If you only have a few fries, I would recommend checking on them at the 8 minute mark.
  • If you want them super crispy you can lightly spray the fries with olive oil before cooking.
  • Spread them out in a single layer so the hot air is able to circulate around them for even cooking.
  • For extra flavor, add seasonings like this French fry seasoning, seasoned salt, Cajun seasoning or salt and pepper.
