Pretzel on a plate.

Pretzels make such a great appetizer or snack like these ranch pretzels, pretzel pizzas and cinnamon pretzel bites. But my kids very favorite are the simple warm, soft pretzels like you get at the mall.

I have tried making these in the microwave, but they come out chewy and in the oven, but it takes along time. Once I tried making them in the air fryer, I haven’t cooked them any other way. They come out wonderfully hot and cooked to perfection in only 3 minutes.

How to make

This is a super simple method for cooking frozen pretzels in the air fryer all you need is a box of your favorite frozen soft pretzels, the salt included in the box and a little water.

  1. Remove pretzels from the packaging and place them in the air fryer basket. I can fit about 3-4 in my 5.8 quart basket.
  2. Brush the tops with water and sprinkle on salt if desired.
  3. Cook at 320 degrees F for about 3 minutes. Depending on pretzel brand and machine, you might need to add 1-2 minutes cook time.
  4. Carefully remove from the basket and serve warm. I like using these silicone tongs. Be sure not to use anything that can scratch the basket when removing.

How to make frozen pretzel bites in the air fryer

You can make frozen pretzel bites in the air fryer using the same directions below. Heat at 320 degrees F and cook for 3 minutes.

How to reheat pretzels in air fryer

If you need to reheat the pretzels, place them back in the basket and cook at 320 for 1-2 minutes.

Tips

  • Each air fryer cooks a little different so you might need to add 1-2 minutes of cook time.
  • Don’t stack them on top of each other while cooking in the basket. You want the heat to be able to circulate around them for even cooking.
  • Feel free to leave off the salt to reduce sodium.
  • To make cinnamon sugar soft pretzels, lightly brush tops of pretzels with olive or coconut oil. Lightly sprinkle on a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Soft pretzel dip ideas

These are delicious on their own with a little salt but it’s also fun to dip them in something delicious for added flavor. Here are a few dip ideas:

What air fryer to use?

I have been using a Cosori for over a year and it’s held up great. You can read my full Cosori review to see if you think it might be a good fit for your family.

There are many other wonderful brands on the market today. Some things to consider are the size of your family and what style you might enjoy. Here are a few other models I recommend:

OMORC: This is a larger machine with a 7.6 quart basket. Comes with a recipe book, rack and great reviews.

Instant Vortex: This is a 6 quart, 4-in-1 machine. Easy to use and a great price point.

Cosori Air Fryer Toaster Oven: This is the toaster over version that has a larger capacity. It has 11 functions including dehydrating.
