I am obsessed with all things pumpkin, especially pumpkin spice. During the fall and winter months I always have a jar of this pumpkin pie spice ready to use.

Instead of paying for a small bottle at the store, I like to make my own. It’s much more budget friendly and I typically already have the spices needed in my cabinet.

After playing around with the quantities of each ingredient, I’ve landed on this delicious blend.

No need to buy expensive spice mixes when you can easily make them at home. A few of my other favorites are apple pie spice, Jamaican jerk spice, chicken seasoning, and french fry seasoning.

Pumpkin pie spice ingredients

  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger
  • Nutmeg
  • Ground allspice
  • Ground cloves

Note: Some recipes also use ground cardamom. I don’t feel it’s necessary but if you like extra spice, add about 1/2 teaspoon to the mix.

How to store

Store your pumpkin pie spice in an airtight container or jar with a lid. I recommend keeping it in a cool, dark place to keep the spices fresh. This mix should last about one year if you start with fresh spices.
