If there is one thing I’ve learned since getting an air fryer, it’s frozen fries were made for it! Golden, crispy, fries made in minutes, no oven required. If I’m making burgers or just want a snack, air fryer frozen french fries are always at the top of my list.

The very first thing I made when I bought my air fryer was frozen french fries. My mom kept telling my how much they tasted like they were straight from a restaurant and she was right! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they are just so good.

Now I try to always have a bag of frozen fries in my freezer for the nights when I need something fast for dinner or just a fun snack. They are always a family favorite.

After making frozen fries in the air fryer what feels like thousands of times, there are a few tips and tricks I’ve learned to get them crispy. Preheating the air fryer and giving them space in the basket are real game changers when it comes to getting delicious, crispy fries.

You basically need one ingredient, frozen fries.

  • Seasoning – Seasoning is optional. Some of my favorites to use are this french fry seasoning, Red Robin seasoning, and Zaxbys fry seasoning.

How to make air fryer frozen french fries

Step one: Preheat the air fryer for 2-3 minutes. Add a layer of frozen fries to the air fryer basket.

Step two: Cook at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes depending on the thickness of the fries.

Step three: Carefully remove them from the basket. Sprinkle with seasoning if desired.

How to cook different types of fries

You can cook any type of frozen fries in the air fryer. The cook time will depend on the thickness of the cut of the french fry.

In my opinion fries pair well with just about anything. Here are some of my favorite ways to serve them:

  • Preheat the air fryer. This is a key to crispy fries.
  • Don’t crowd the basket. My number one tip is not to cook too many fries at one time. You want to give the fries space for the hot air to circulate around them and cook evenly.
  • Shake the fries. Shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking.
  • Season after cooking. I like to season the fries immediately after cooking so that it sticks on the fries.

Storage

Store: Let any leftover fries cool completely. Place them in an airtight container or bag. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat: Reheat them in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes.

Air Fryer Frozen French Fries

Ingredients 

  • 1 1 lb bag Frozen French Fries
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt optional

Instructions 

  • Preheat the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Place layer of frozen fries in air fryer basket. Don't overcrowd.
  • Set air fryer to 400 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the air fryer basket and shake or toss the fries half way through cooking and then continue cooking.
  • If desired, season once fries finish cooking.
