This is for the bagel lovers. Have you ever found yourself wanting a perfectly toasted bagel but didn’t want to preheat the oven or clean out the toaster? The air fryer isn’t just for chicken tenders and frozen fries, it’s also a wonderful way to toast bagels. I am going to share all the tips and tricks you need to know for toasting bagels in the air fryer.

My air fryer is my most used kitchen appliance. It can cook just about anything like frozen waffles, hash browns, eggs, bacon, and so much more.

Toasting bagels in the air fryer has become a favorite way for me to get perfectly toasted bagels. Reasons why this method is becoming more popular:

  • Even cooking: Air fryer circulate hot air around the bagel halves which makes sure they cook evenly.
  • Fast: Air fryers heat up much faster than the oven. Your bagel will be ready to eat in 3 minutes.
  • Convenient: Air fryers are so easy to use and can be used in any kitchen or even a camper.

What you’ll need

Just grab your favorite bagel and an air fryer for this recipe. Fresh or frozen bagels can be used. If cooking bagels from frozen, note that they will take a few extra minutes to cook.

How to toast bagels in the air fryer

  1. Slice your bagel in half. Place the halves in the air fryer basket, cut side up.
  2. Set the air fryer to 370 degrees F and cook for 3-4 minutes or until the desired amount of crispiness.
  3. Serve or top with your favorite topping.

Tips for toasting bagels in air fryer

It’s very simple to toast bagels using an air fryer but here are a few tips to make sure they cook up perfectly.

  • Don’t overcrowd – Depending on the size of your air fryer basket, you will be able to cook 1 – 2 full bagels. Make sure to lay the halves in a single layer and not overcrowd the basket for even cooking.
  • Golden brown – If you prefer your bagel a little on the crispy side, lightly spray them with cooking oil or spread a little butter over them before toasting.
  • Time – Each air fryer will cook a little different. You can start by cooking the bagels for 2 minutes and then increase the time for your desired doneness.

    My wife loves to do this in the air fryer, she uses the air fryer for almost everything, including boneless ribs and adding BBQ sauce to each side when cooking them is fantastic too.
