My recipe for copycat Chick-Fil-A avocado lime ranch dressing is a tasty variation on original ranch dressing. Tangy lime juice, creamy avocado and a variety of spices join together to make seriously delicious sauce. It’s one of my favorite dressings to make at home and it takes just 5 minutes to make this Chick-Fil-A copycat recipe.

Bowl of green sauce with half an avocado.

Homemade Chick Fil A avocado lime ranch

My go-to order at Chick-fil-A is their chicken wrap with the avocado lime ranch dressing. The dressing really is the star of the meal because it adds so much amazing flavor.

I developed this recipe when we decided to have a homemade Chick-fil-A dinner at home. My kids love chicken nuggets with homemade Polynesian sauce and Chick-Fil-A sauce, but I wanted to make a wrap.

After a little experimenting I feel like this dressing tastes pretty darn close to the restaurant version.

Be sure to try some of my other favorite ranch dressings like this Wingstop ranch, BBQ ranch, buffalo ranch, and blackened ranch.

Why you’ll love this recipe

This twist on ranch is one of our favorites because it’s so creamy and flavorful with the fresh, tangy taste of lime. Some of the reasons I love it include:

  • Simple – You can make this recipe with just a few ingredients you might already have at home.
  • Tasty – The taste and texture are so good!
  • Fresh – It’s great to make fresh dressing without all of the preservatives from bottled dressing.

Avocado lime ranch dressing ingredients

  • Mayonnaise – Adds a nice creamy base. You can use full fat mayonnaise like Dukes or Best Foods. You can also substitute with a vegan version.
  • Avocado – 1 large avocado is needed. A ripe avocado will be dark green, almost black, and have a little give when squeezed.
  • Ranch seasoning – Use prepackaged or homemade ranch seasoning.
  • Olive oil – Could also substitute with avocado oil or canola oil.
  • Lime juice and zest – The juice of one large lime, or about 1/4 cup of lime juice.
  • White vinegar – Can also substitute with apple cider vinegar.
  • Salt, Cumin, Sugar – These bring all of the flavors together.
Bowls of mayonnaise, seasoning, lime juice, vinegar, water.

How to make Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing

This creamy avocado lime ranch dressing is super easy to make. Just grab your ingredients and either a food processor or blender.

  1. Zest lime using a microplane. Set aside.
  2. Cut avocado in half and remove the pit. Scoop the inside of the avocado into the food processor.
  3. Add in mayonnaise, lime juice, lime zest, vinegar, water, ranch seasoning, cumin, salt, and sugar.
  4. Pulse until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Food processor with avocado, mayonnaise and spices.

How to store homemade avocado lime dressing

Make sure to store this dressing in an airtight container, like a jar, in the refrigerator. This will last for 3-4 days if stored correctly.

I would not recommend freezing this dressing. Mayonnaise does not keep well in the freezer.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Make sure to use a ripe avocado.
  • I recommend chilling for at least an hour to let the flavors come together.
  • This dressing is a little thick. If you would like it to be more of a dressing for a salad, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of milk or water to thin it out.
  • This recipe makes around 2 cups of dressing. You can easily double the ingredients for more servings.
  • Make this recipe Keto friendly by substitute the sugar with a sugar alternative or leave it out completely.

How to serve Chick Fil A Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing

This dressing is very versatile and can be used as a dressing or a dip. My favorite way to use it is on a chicken wrap. You can also try serving it on:

    1. This makes just a little over a cup so I wrote it as close to 1/4 cup per serving. You can use as much or little as you want depending on how you are serving it. The leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for about a week.
