Best desserts to make with a tub of Cool Whip

Our list of Cool Whip recipes includes a variety of cookies, cakes, dips, dessert salads, and even an ice box cake that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

We love that most of these recipes are made with just a few simple ingredients and that many can be prepared simply by mixing and chilling –– no baking needed!

Cool Whip can be found in the frozen section of many grocery stores, but to make it easy to spread, scoop, or mix in, you’ll need to defrost it before using it.

For best results, we recommend thawing Cool Whip in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight before incorporating it into a dish.

Keep these recipes on hand for your next party, or for any time you’re craving a sweet treat at home!

1. Banana Pudding

Banana pudding is super easy to make, thanks to the help of two kinds of instant pudding. This classic dessert features layers of creamy French vanilla pudding, banana pudding, fresh banana slices, and Nilla wafers. Whipped topping makes the dessert extra fluffy and creamy.

The key to getting the perfect texture for this dessert is ensuring that you don’t overmix the pudding. If you want to thicken your banana pudding, you can add an extra half package of instant pudding, or let the pudding thicken on its own with more time in the refrigerator.

2. Cherries In The Snow

Here’s a dessert that is just as beautiful as it is delicious. Cherries In the Snow is an old fashioned recipe that is perfect for any special occasion. This creamy layered dessert contains a sweet cream cheese base, soft angel food cake, and a rich cherry pie filling.

The combination of whipped topping, cream cheese, and powdered sugar gives this recipe an incredible softness and sweetness.

3. Ambrosia Salad With Cool Whip

Ambrosia salad is a beloved Southern treat that contains fruit, marshmallows, coconut flakes, and whipped cream. This is one of our favorite Cool Whip recipes because of how easy it is to personalize.

For an extra splash of color and fun, you can use multi-colored mini marshmallows instead of plain white. Another way to take this fruit salad to the next level is by adding in your favorite nuts: pecans, walnuts, and pistachios would all taste great in this recipe.

4. Watergate Salad

Also known as pistachio salad or pistachio fluff, Watergate salad is an iconic dessert that has been popular since the 70s. It’s made with similar ingredients to ambrosia salad, but with a delightful pistachio flavor that comes from pistachio instant pudding mix.

This recipe is easy to whip up and to double or triple if desired. Because it takes only 15 minutes to prepare before being chilled, Watergate salad is one of the best simple desserts to make for parties or special occasions.

5. Strawberry Cookies

Four simple ingredients are all you need to make these perfectly pink strawberry cookies. Made with boxed strawberry cake mix, an egg, whipped topping, and confectioner’s sugar, this recipe takes only 30 minutes from start to finish.

This is one of our favorite recipes with Cool Whip. Want to take these cookies to the next level? Chocolate chips, white chocolate chunks, and dried strawberries are just a few of the mix-ins you could add to enhance simple desserts like this one.

6. Oreo Fluff

Loaded with Oreo cookies and mini marshmallows, Oreo fluff is a no-bake dessert that’s so easy to put together. This delicious creamy dessert gets its vanilla flavor from the combination of Oreo filling and vanilla instant pudding mix.

7. Robert Redford Dessert

A popular dessert from the 70s, this Robert Redford dessert recipe is pure sweetness and nostalgia. This scrumptious dessert has a pecan crust and is layered with pudding, cream cheese, and Cool Whip. It’s incredibly easy to assemble and is sure to be a hit at any party or holiday gathering.

Be sure to top it off with garnishes such as Maraschino cherries, chocolate shavings, chocolate curls, or chopped pecans. Chill for an hour before serving.

Chocolate and peanut butter are truly one of the best combinations ever. You can make this decadent dessert even better by topping it with chocolate chips, chopped nuts, chocolate candies, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

10. Snickers Salad

Sweet and tart flavors come together in this simple Snickers salad with apples. Granny Smith apples are the best apples to use for this recipe because of how perfectly their tartness balances out the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Each bite of this sweet dessert salad is creamy with a bit of a crunch from both the apples and Snickers bars. The caramel drizzle is optional but shouldn’t be skipped! A little bit of caramel sauce will add even more sweetness and tie the whole dish together. An easy recipe that is a must try.
