Air fryer edamame is a simple, delicious snack that can be made in about 10 minutes. This air fryer recipe can be made with fresh or frozen edamame. I love making this easy recipe because it reminds me of what they serve at my local sushi restaurant. A definite must try if you have an air fryer.

My easy recipe for air fryer edamame

I am always in search for easy snacks to make, especially for my kids that are constantly looking for something to eat. The air fryer comes in handy because it’s so easy to use and can cook snacks fast.

Our family loves a tasty air fryer snack like Chex mix, soft pretzels, and pizza rolls. This edamame recipe is a great healthy snack option that can be prepared in minutes.

Edamame

Edamame is a type of immature soybean that is considered a legume. They are commonly used as a snack or appetizer but this green colored bean can also be used in a variety of edamame recipes like salad, stir fry, and more.

Ingredients needed for air fryer edamame

  • Edamame – You can use fresh or frozen edamame in the pod. I found my frozen edamame in the freezer section with frozen vegetables in the grocery store.
  • Salt – I like using flaked sea salt. You could also use kosher salt.

How to make air fryer edamame

This recipe is so easy to make with the help of an air fryer.

  1. Place edamame in the air fryer basket. Make sure to spread them out into an even layer.
  2. Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. Shake the air fryer basket and cook another 4-5. minutes at 400 degrees F. ***If using fresh edamame, you can reduce the total cook time to 5-7 minutes.
  3. Carefully pour the edamame into a bowl and sprinkle with flaked sea salt or kosher salt.

Recipe Tip

After the edamame is cooked, you can lightly spray them with olive oil to help the salt stick.

Air fryer edamame variations

Try adding different seasonings to change up the flavors of this edamame. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Garlic – Try tossing the edamame with 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil and garlic powder.
  • Lemon – Garnish with a splash of fresh lemon juice.
  • Soy sauce – You can add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to the edamame half way through cooking or after they have cooked.
  • Spicy – Try adding a little sriracha or hot sauce after they have cooked.

How to store leftovers

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer, microwave, or eat cold.
