Heather’s recipe tips

  • Cook the pasta al dente. The pasta will keep cooking in the oven so you will want to boil them to al dente so they don’t become mushy.
  • Meal prep. If you know you are going to make this meal, pre-chop the veggies and pre-cook your sausage. When you are ready to assemble, everything will be ready to mix together.
  • Salt you pasta water while cooking the pasta. It is a great way to season the pasta itself.
  • Remove any excess grease. Once the sausage cooks, make sure to remove any excess grease.

Variations

  • Veggie – If supreme isn’t your style, try a veggie version with peppers, onions, and mushrooms.
  • Hawaiian – Substitute diced ham and pineapple bits.
  • Meat lovers – Add in extra protein like ground beef, chopped bacon, and diced ham.

FAQs

Is marinara sauce the same as pizza sauce?

These sauces are not the same but are very similar. Pizza sauce tends to be a little thicker than marinara sauce. Either can be used for this recipe.

What is the best pasta to use?

I recommend using short pasta like rigatoni, penne, rotini, and ziti.
