- Ground beef – I like to use a lean ground beef for this recipe so that there isn’t much extra grease.
- Pasta – I am using large elbow macaroni but you can substitute with small pasta shells, rotini, penne, and fettuccini pasta.
- Alfredo sauce – Use your favorite jarred alfredo sauce or a homemade sauce.
- Seasonings – Italian seasoning, salt, and ground black pepper
- Optional – Parmesan cheese, diced green onion, parsley
How to make ground beef alfredo
Step one: Fill a large pot 1/2 full with water. (At least 4 cups of water.) Bring the water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon salt to the boiling water. Add the pasta and boil according to package directions. Once pasta has finished cooking, drain off the water.
Step two: While the pasta is boiling, cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Make sure to break up the beef while cooking. Cook until it’s browned.
Step three: Stir in Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt, ground black pepper, diced onion and cook for 1-2 minutes. Stir in minced garlic. Stir in the creamy alfredo sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until warmed through.
Step four: Pour the drained, cooked pasta into the sauce mixture. Optional – Top with grated parmesan cheese. Serve warm.
Tips for success
- Try using a large, deep skillet for this recipe.
- Drain off any excess grease from the ground beef. This will help prevent the sauce from being too thin and greasy.
- Don’t forget to add the salt to the pasta water. This adds flavor to the pasta.
Variations
You can easily adjust this recipe to your taste. Here are a few examples for substitutions and variations of this dish.
