    Ingredients needed

This recipe call for simple ingredients that you might already have at home. Feel free to play around with the amount of garlic powder to suit your taste.

Butter – Unsalted butter. I like using unsalted so that you can adjust the amount of sodium you would like. Make sure that the butter is softened.

Garlic powder – Adds the garlic flavor to the butter.

    Onion powder

Dried parsley – You can also substitute with fresh parsley and other fresh herbs.

    How to make garlic spread

    1. Place softened butter in a bowl.
    2. Add in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and dried parsley.
    3. Use a fork or spoon to stir and combine the butter and seasonings.

    How to use

There is nothing quite like this garlic spread on warm bread. But this butter mixture can be used in many other ways. Here are a few ideas:

Pasta: Try mixing in 1-2 tablespoons of this butter into hot pasta like spaghetti, fettuccini and more.

Bread: This is the perfect spread for amazing garlic bread. Slice bread like French bread or Italian bread and top with garlic spread. Broil it in the oven or eat at room temperature.

Sandwich: It’s also wonderful as a sandwich spread. Try spreading it on a baguette with ham and Swiss cheese for an unbelievable sandwich. You could also use it to spread on a hamburger bun or wraps.

Vegetables: Try using it on steamed cauliflower, broccoli or mashed potatoes.

    Recipe tips

    • Make sure to allow time for the butter to soften. Try leaving the it out at room temperature an hour before making so that is has time to soften. This makes it so much easier to stir together.
    • Try adding in some grated Parmesan cheese to the mixture.
    • Add a little heat by incorporating 1/2 teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes.
    • This recipe is very versatile so feel free to experiment with other herbs like rosemary, basil, and oregano.
    • If you need garlic spread for a crowd, this recipe is easy to double or even triple.

    How to store

Store: This garlic butter spread can be stored in an airtight container like a mason jar. Keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use.

    Freeze:

Garlic toast -If you want to freeze garlic toast, spread the butter mixture on pieces of sliced bread. Lay the bread on a baking sheet and place in the freezer until the slices are frozen. Package them in a freezer safe bag or container. They will freeze for 3 months.

The next time you want homemade garlic bread, place the frozen bread on a baking sheet for 10-15 minutes. Broil for about 5 minutes or until the bread starts to turn golden.

Garlic spread – To freeze just the spread, spoon the mixture into an ice cube tray and place in freezer until frozen. Remove the butter cubes and store in a freezer safe bag or container. Let thaw at room temperature before using.
