Chipped Beef Dip is always a huge hit with family and friends. Creamy dip that can be served as an appetizer or as a sandwich filling.

This tasty appetizer is basically the dip version of Chipped Beef Cheese Ball. So simple and the flavor combination is delicious!

What is chipped beef?

It’s a dried beef that has been pressed and salted. The beef usually comes in paper thin slices and packaged either in a jar or small packets. I find mine in the refrigerated deli meat section at the grocery store. It can also be referred to as dried beef.

Ingredients needed

Chipped Beef – I use Buddig brand. Chipped beef can also be called dried beef

Cream Cheese – I use full fat but you can use low fat for this recipe.

Sour Cream – I use full fat but you can use light.

Horseradish – This add just a hint of spiciness. It does not make it hot. Feel free to omit all together or add more to taste.

Garlic Powder – Adds a little hint of flavor.

Green onions – Gives nice color and another layer of texture and flavor.

Worcestershire Sauce – Adds a little extra salt.

How to make chipped beef dip with horseradish

This retro dip in incredibly easy to make! Just mix all of the ingredients together and serve.

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened. This helps to make the mixing easier. Add to a large bowl along with sour cream, horseradish, Worcestershire and garlic powder.
  • Mix together until well combined. Stir in diced onion and chipped beef and then it’s ready to serve.

Can I bake this dip?

This dip can be served cold or hot. To make baked chipped beef dip, simply mix the ingredients together, place in a baking dish and then bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

How to serve

I like serving this dip with crackers, chips or bread. For a low-carb option, serve with vegetables like carrots, cucumber slices and peppers.

This dip is also great spread on a tortilla, rolled up and then sliced into pinwheels

I have also spread this dip on bread to make little tea sandwiches

Recipe tips

  • For extra creamy dip, make sure that cream cheese is softened. You can also mix with an electric mixer or use pre-whipped cream cheese.
  • Dice the green onion and beef into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Feel free to omit the horseradish or add more depending on how spicy you would like the dip.

How to store

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to serving so that it can soften.

I would not recommend freezing this appetizer. The cream cheese would not hold up well.

Is it low carb?

Yes, this is low in carbohydrates. You can use cucumber slices or other vegetables to dip or even Keto crackers.
