A fun take on a classic recipe, this banana pudding fluff is creamy, sweet, and full of great banana flavor. The best part is you can make this simple, no bake dessert with just 6 ingredients you might already have in your kitchen. It comes together quickly and is perfect for holidays, parties, potlucks, and more.

Banana pudding has to be one of my all time favorite desserts. I often make my Dad’s banana pudding recipe for special occasions and this banana pudding dip for game days. Banana pudding fluff is now one of my favorite twists on the classic dessert because it’s so easy to make and tastes so good!
I grew up eating fluff dessert salads at family gatherings and holidays. You could always count on a big bowl of the delicious marshmallow fluff salad being on the table and it was always one of the first dishes to disappear.
A few summers ago I decided to make this banana version when I needed a quick dessert to serve friends that were coming over for a cookout. It was the perfect last minute dessert. Everyone ended up loving it and I have been making it ever since.
Why you should make this recipe
- A simple, delicious dessert. This recipe can be made quickly and with just a few ingredients.
- Can feed a crowd. This is the perfect dessert or even side for a crowd. The recipe can easily be doubled if needed.
- Adult and kid approved. A dessert that everyone will enjoy, even your picky eaters.
Ingredients
This banana pudding fluff combines the ingredients of two of my favorite desserts. Only 6 ingredients needed.

- Pudding: Use a box of instant Banana Cream Pudding Mix or Vanilla Pudding Mix. Banana Cream Pudding will give you extra banana flavor and vanilla will give you a more traditional banana pudding taste.
- Milk: You can use the milk you have on hand just make sure it’s cold.
- Whipped topping: Thawed, frozen whipped topping like Cool Whip gives this fluff a light and creamy texture.
- Mini marshmallows: Mini marshmallows are a staple ingredient in the recipe.
- Bananas: Sliced or diced bananas give this dessert fresh banana flavor. Use a ripe banana.
- Vanilla wafers: Vanilla wafers are the traditional cookie used in banana pudding.
How to make banana pudding fluff
You can prepare this easy banana pudding fluff in just a few simple steps.

Step one: Whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens.

Step two: Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping.

Step three: Stir in sliced bananas, mini marshmallows, and vanilla wafer pieces.

Step four: Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
Heather’s recipe tips

- Chill before serving. I recommend refrigerating this for at least an hour before serving.
Variations
There are several ways to make this banana fluff dessert your own. Here are a few of my suggestions:
- Pudding: Substitute the vanilla pudding mix with banana pudding mix, french vanilla, or cheesecake pudding mix.
- Cookies: Try substituting the vanilla wafers with shortbread cookies, Pecan Sandies, graham crackers, Chessman cookies, or even vanilla sugar wafers.
- Fruit: You can substitute bananas with other fruit like blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
- Nuts: Add some chopped pecans or walnuts for added crunch.

Storage instructions
Store: Be sure to keep any leftover banana pudding fluff salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
I don’t recommend freezing this fluff dessert.
