My gooey S’mores Rice Krispies Treats are a fun twist on the classic cereal treat. A combination of crispy cereal, marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate, this no bake dessert is easy to make and great for any occasion.

Rice Krispies treats have always been one of my kid’s favorite desserts. The ooey gooey marshmallows combined with crispy cereal is hard to beat. I also like how many fun ways you can change up the classic no bake treat, like my chocolate rice krispie treats.
These s’mores rice krispies treats have become a new favorite in our house. They remind me of our traditional camping trip dessert but without the hassle of starting a fire.
When making these, I like to layer bits of Hershey’s bars, mini marshmallows, and graham crackers to really give that great s’mores combination of flavors.

- Classic s’mores flavors wrapped up in a chewy cereal treat.

- Great for occasions like an after school snack, cookouts, parties, bake sales, and more.
Ingredients For S’mores Rice Krispies Treats
All the great ingredients used in s’mores packed into a cereal treat.

- Unsalted butter: I like to use unsalted butter to have more control of the salt.
- Rice Krispies cereal: The crispy cereal gives the treats their signature texture.
- Marshmallows: You will need both jumbo and mini marshmallows to make this recipe. The large marshmallows are melted with the butter to hold the ingredients together. The mini marshmallows are used to add bits of marshmallows for the s’mores recipe.
- Vanilla extract: A little vanilla extract adds sweetness and warmth.
- Graham crackers: Crumbled graham crackers add crunch and flavor.
- Hershey’s bars: Chop the chocolate Hershey’s bars up and add to the cereal treats for more of the classic campfire treat flavor.
How To Make S’mores Rice Krispies Treats
- Line a 9 x 9 baking dish with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a large pot or deep skillet over medium low heat. Stir in the jumbo marshmallows and keep stirring until the marshmallows are melted.

- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, Rice Krispies, broken graham crackers, and 1 cup of mini marshmallows.
- Press half of the cereal mixture in the prepared baking dish.

- Top with half of the chopped chocolate and half cup of mini marshmallows.
- Press the remaining cereal mixture on top.

- Top with the remaining chocolate pieces, half cup of mini marshmallows, and pieces of broken graham crackers.
- Let the cereal treats rest for about 30 minutes before cutting.
- Gently lift the parchment paper with the treats out of the baking dish. Cut them with a sharp knife. You can spray your knife with non-stick cooking spray or rub a little butter on the knife to help make cutting easier.
Heather’s Recipe Tips
- Melt the butter on low heat while constantly stirring. You don’t want to accidentally burn the marshmallows.
- Use fresh marshmallows so they melt smoothly.
- Don’t press the cereal treat mixture to firmly. Just a gentle press works so they don’t become too dense and hard.
- Let the treats set before cutting into squares. I like to let the cool for about 30 minutes before slicing.
Variations
This s’mores rice krispies treats recipe with graham crackers is easy to customize.
Chocolate: Substitute the Hershey’s bars with chocolate chips. You can also substitute with dark chocolate bars or even Hershey’s cookies and cream bars.
Golden Grahams cereal: Substitute 2 cups of the Rice Krispies cereal with Golden Grahams cereal for extra graham cracker flavor.
Peanut butter s’mores treats: Add 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter into the melted marshmallow mixture.
Sea salt: Balance out the sweetness with a sprinkle of sea salt on top.

Storage Instructions
Store leftover s’mores rice krispies treats in an airtight container at room temperature. They will last 3-4 days.
Make sure not to refrigerate these treats because it will make them hard and dry.
You can freeze these s’mores treats. I like to individually wrap them in plastic wrap. Let them thaw at room temperature.
Common Questions
This can happen if you melt the marshmallows over high heat or if you press the cereal mixture into the dish too firmly.
Yes you can substitute with a bag of mini marshmallows.
If you want that great campfire flavor, you can toast the mini marshmallows that you sprinkle on top of the s’mores rice krispie treats. Place the mini marshmallows on foil under the oven broiler for about a minute or until the tops start to get toasted.
