If you have a can of Grands biscuits in your refrigerator, you have to give these sausage and cream cheese bites a try. They are warm, cheesy, and the perfect bite for holiday appetizers, game day snacks, or a Sunday brunch.

I’ve been making these sausage biscuit bites for years and they are always a hit with the family. Last year I decided to add in the red pepper and green onion for a Christmas party and now I never leave them out. They add great color and flavor, and just the right amount of crunch.

I love that you can make a batch of these in about 30 minutes with not much fuss.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • A great hand held bite. Easy to pick up and enjoy, no utensils required.
  • Simple ingredients. Make this sausage biscuit bites recipe with easy ingredients.
  • Can be customized. Put your own spin on these biscuit bites. I have a few suggestions below.

Ingredients

One of the things I love about this sausage and cream cheese bites recipe is that it requires just a few simple ingredients.

Grands Biscuits, bowl of shredded cheese, peppers, onions, sausage, and cream cheese.
  • Sausage: Use your favorite breakfast sausage.
  • Red bell peppers: Finely diced red bell pepper adds color and a hint of sweetness.
  • Worcestershire sauce: A little bit of Worcestershire adds a savory depth of flavor to the sausage.
  • Cream cheese: This is the base of the sausage filling. It will also help to hold everything together.
  • Shredded cheese: Shredded cheese adds delicious flavor. I like using Colby Jack but you can also use Cheddar cheese.
  • Green onions: Sliced green onions adds more color and mild onion flavor.
  • Canned Grands Flaky Layers Biscuits: Flaky biscuits form the “cup” that holds the filling.

Heather’s recipe tips

  • Cook the sausage well and drain any excess grease.
  • Dice the peppers small.
  • If you can use freshly shredded cheese, it melts the best. Prepackaged shredded cheese is fine, but freshly shredded has the best flavor and consistency.
  • Try to split the biscuit dough evenly.
  • This recipe makes 16 biscuit cups.

Variations

  • Sausage: I am using original breakfast sausage but you can substitute with spicy, Italian, or sage sausage.
  • Eggs: Add in some scrambled eggs for a breakfast version.
  • Spicy: Stir in some chopped jalapeños or green chilis with the sausage mixture.
  • More vegetables: Add in more vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini.

Storage instructions

Store: Let the bites completely cool. Place them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Freeze: You can freeze these for up to 2 months. Place them on a baking sheet and freeze them until solid. Put them in a freezer safe bag or container.

Reheat them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes.
