Heather’s recipe tips
- Soften the cream cheese to room temperature. This helps make it easy blend together and helps to keep it smooth.
- You can control the heat. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your taste. I recommend tasting the dip first before adding any extra.
- Serve it warm or cold. I typically serve this fire cracker dip cold but you can bake it at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes for a warm dip.
Variations
Make this creamy fire cracker dip your own with a few substitutions.
- Chicken: Add in shredded chicken to give this dip a little protein. I like using rotisserie chicken.
- Corn and beans: Try mixing in corn and drained black beans for southwest flavor.
- Cheese: Swap the cheddar cheese with mozzarella or colby jack cheese. You can even use shredded pepper jack for extra spice.

Storage instructions
You can keep any leftover dip covered in the refrigerator. It will last for up to 4 days. You will want to give it a stir before serving.
I do not recommend freezing this dip. The cream cheese does not thaw well.
