Mississippi sloppy joes are a delicious mix of Mississippi pot roast and classic sloppy joes. Loaded with savory flavor, it’s a quick and easy meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. If you want a meal that will get your family excited about dinner, this is a must try.

One of my kids favorite dinners is sloppy joes. They request them at least once every other week. After making the classic version so many times, I decided to change things up one night and gave the mixture a Mississippi style twist by using au jus, ranch, and pepperoncinis.

The flavor combination of these Mississippi sloppy joes ended up being such a hit that they ended up devouring their sandwiches. The saucy ground beef with a hint of tangy peppers is hard to resist.

Now this meal has earned a spot on our regular menu rotation. I love how easy it is to make and knowing that everyone will be excited for dinner.

Ingredients

Use simple ingredients to make this easy Mississippi sloppy joes recipe.

Ground beef, beef broth, packet of ranch seasoning, au jus, bowl of onion, and pepperoncinis.
  • Ground beef: I like using a lean ground beef for this recipe to cut down on the extra grease.
  • Onions: Use your favorite onions like yellow or Vidalia onions.
  • Beef broth: This helps to add moisture and makes a flavorful sauce.
  • Au Jus: A packet of au jus mix helps to add that Mississippi flavor.
  • Ranch seasoning: Use your favorite dry ranch seasoning.
  • Pepperoncinis: I use a jar of the pre sliced peperoncinis for that great, tangy flavor. You could also get whole peppers and slice them.
  • Pepperoncini juice: Add a little pepperoncini juice from the jar to add even more flavor. If you don’t like any spice, I would recommend leaving this out.
  • Cheese: This is optional. You can add it on top of the meat mixture.
