Slow Cooker Apples And Pork Chops

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops boneless or bone in
  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 (1 ounce) Lipton onion soup mix
  • ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling

Instructions

  • Spread sliced onions in the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour the beef broth over the onions.
  • Place the pork chops on top of the onions. Sprinkle on poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the pieces of butter over the seasonings.
  • Pour apple pie filling over the pork chops.
  • Place the cover on the slow cooker. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours

Notes

  • Don't use thinly sliced pork chops. Thin pork chops won't hold up well.
  • Layer to enhance flavors. I recommend putting the onions on the bottom of the slow cooker to help them caramelize and also to help prevent the pork chops form sticking.
  • Try adding fresh apples. If you want even more apple flavor, you can add fresh, sliced apples the last hour of cooking.
