Servings: 9 pieces
- ½ tablespoon flour for dusting the pan
- 1 sheet thawed puff pastry dough
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Use Your Favorite Toppings
- 12 pepperoni
- ¼ red onion, diced
- ¼ green peppers, diced
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Sprinkle a little flour on the parchment paper.
Unfold the thawed puff pastry dough on the parchment paper.
Using a knife, cut a line around the dough to form a crust. Don't cut all the way through.
Prick the center of the dough with a fork, not the crust boarder.
Brush the puff pastry dough with egg wash. Bake for 10 minutes. ***The dough will be puffed up.
Take the back of a spoon and gently press down the center of the crust.
Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce in the center of the crust. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Add you favorite pizza toppings. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese melts.
- Be sure to thaw properly. It's important that you follow the directions on the puff pastry dough box for thawing.
- Use parchment paper. I like using parchment paper with a little dusting of flour to help prevent the dough from sticking.
- Making the crust. Make sure to to cut all the way through the dough with making the outline of the crust.
- Use freshly shredded cheese. Freshly shredded cheese melts the best. If you are in a pinch, you can use prepackaged cheese.
- Don't put on too many toppings. There is a bit of a delicate balance when it comes to adding sauce and toppings. Make sure to only use a thin layer of sauce and don't add too many toppings to help prevent the dough from getting soggy.
- Make individual pizzas. If you would like to make personal pizzas, you can cut the puff pastry dough into thirds before assembling.
