Brownie Frosting

This super easy brownie frosting can be made in minutes and is creamy, chocolatey and so cook spread on brownies, cake, and more.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  • Place butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Whisk in cocoa powder.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and milk until creamy.
  • Use frosting immediately or store.

Notes

  • This recipe makes enough to cover a 9x9-inch pan of brownies. You can easily double the recipe if you need more frosting.
  • Want to thin out the frosting? Add a little extra milk until you reach your desired consistency. You can thicken the frosting by adding a little extra powdered sugar.
  • It's important to make sure the brownies have cooled before spreading the frosting. If they are still warm the frosting will melt and not stay on the brownie.
  • Make sure to wait about 10 minutes after frosting before cutting the brownies. This allows the brownie frosting to harden a little.
