Servings: 4 thighs
- 4-5 chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
- water enough to cover chicken thighs
Pat chicken thighs with paper towel to remove any excess liquid. Place chicken thighs in a large pot. Sprinkle on chicken bouillon or salt and pepper.
Cover the chicken thighs with water and then cover with a lid. Heat on the stove and bring to a boil.
Turn the heat down to medium heat and bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 30 minutes, or 40 minutes if from frozen. Check to make sure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
This step is optional, if you would like crispy skin, place the boiled chicken thighs on a foil lined baking pan and broil for about 5 minutes or until skin starts to turn golden brown. You can then add BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, or leave plain.
- Starting the chicken in cold water will help cook the chicken evenly.
- Make sure to completely cover the chicken with water, at least 2 inches over.
- Don't forget to check the internal temperature with and instant read thermometer. It should reach 165 degrees F.
- You can add vegetables like carrots, celery, and onion to the pot of water to get more flavorful chicken.
- You can also add fresh herbs like bay leaves, thyme, or rosemary.
- Don't throw away the chicken broth. Use the leftover broth for soups, stews, or to cook pasta.
