Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cans orange rolls, quartered
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Cut the orange rolls into quarters.
  • Pour melted butter in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Make sure to spread it out to cover the bottom of the dish.
  • Spread the cut orange rolls out in the baking dish in an even layer.
  • Make the custard by whisking together eggs, heavy cream, light brown sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Whisk until fully combined.
  • Pour the mixture over the orange rolls making sure that it is spread out evenly.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes. Make sure to check that the center of the casserole is baked through. If not, lightly cover the baking dish with foil and bake until the casserole is fully baked and set.
  • Let the casserole rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Make the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, orange juice, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  • Drizzle the icing over the casserole. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Try to cut the orange rolls similar in size. This will help everything bake up evenly.
  • Check that it's finished baking. Sometimes the orange rolls can look cooked and golden on top before the center of the casserole is finished baking. You can loosely cover the top with foil if you need to until it finishes baking.
  • Let the casserole slightly cool before adding the icing.
  • You can add more powdered sugar, or more orange juice to adjust the thickness of the icing to your preference.
