Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Creamy whipped sweet potatoes are a delicious side dish. Cooked sweet potatoes are whipped to perfection with butter and cinnamon.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3-4 large sweet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Clean off the sweet potatoes.
  • Place the potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet. Pierce the tops with a fork.
  • Bake for about 45 - 60 minutes or until fork tender. Carefully cut the sweet potatoes in half and scoop flesh into a large bowl. Use an electric mixer or food processor to whip.
  • Mix in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and pepper, and mix again until fully whipped and combined.

Notes

  • Don't have a hand held mixer, you can use a potato masher, stand mixer or food processor.
  • I recommend baking or air frying the sweet potatoes because it really brings out the naturally sweet flavor of the potato.
  • Baking time might vary depending on the size of the sweet potato. If they are smaller, I recommend checking them at 30 minutes.
  • Don't want to heat up the oven? Try cooking the sweet potatoes in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.
  • To make them super creamy, add a little extra heavy cream and whip for several 3-4 minutes.
