Ingredients

  • 1 32-ounce bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups shredded cheese

Optional toppings

  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup guacomole
  • 2 green onions, diced
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 jalapenos, sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. If using foil, lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray. Spread frozen tater tots on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes or until crispy.
  • While the tater tots are cooking, cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Make sure to break up the beef while it's cooking. Once cooked through. drain off any excess grease.
  • Pour in water and taco seasonings. Stir the beef and seasonings around until combined.
  • Once the tater tots have cooked, top them with cooked ground beef. Top the beef with shredded cheese. Place back in the oven and cook another 4-5 minutes or until cheese melts.
  • Add any extra toppings and serve.

Notes

  • Crispy tater tots - Bake your tater tots a little longer than the bag suggests. You want them to be extra crispy to hold up to the toppings.
  • Drain grease - Make sure to drain off any extra grease once the beef has been cooked.
  • Serve immediately - I recommend serving the totchos right after they have cooked. You want them nice and warm when serving.
