Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  • Place all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and stir to combine.
  • Bring the sauce to a slight simmer and then reduce the heat to medium-low. Let warm for about 5 minutes to let the sugar dissolve and the flavors come together. Make sure to stir while the sauce is warming to prevent burning.
  • Carefully remove from the heat and let stand for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve or let cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little extra white vinegar or even a 1 tablespoon of water.
  • Make sure to stir the sauce while it's warming. This will help prevent the sauce from burning.
  • Want a spicy sauce? Try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce.
