Create a new family tradition and celebrate the season with this Muffin Tin Halloween Countdown Calendar.
One of our kids favorite Christmas traditions is the advent calendar. Each year the elf brings them a calendar where each day is filled with a piece of chocolate. I thought this year it would be fun to get crafty and create something similar for Halloween. Why not have a few small treats leading up to the ultimate trick or treat payoff?
Using a mini muffin tin is an easy way to make a calendar. The muffin cups are great compartments for the treats and it is nice and sturdy when you hang it on the wall. I also made some fun Halloween printables to print out on inkjet magnet paper that will cover the muffin cups and hold the treats.
What you need:
- Mini muffin tin
- Small treats
- Magnet Paper
- Command™ Clear Hooks Holds 2 lb Indoor
To begin, drill a small hole at the top of muffin tin. You may choose to make one or two holes depending on the design of the muffin tin.
Next fill the mini muffin tin with small treats. I let the kids help me with this step. We used some Halloween erasers and small candy. They were beyond excited to pick out what to put in each muffin cup!
Place the magnet paper in your inkjet printer and print out the calendar squares. You will need to print 2 copies to make 24 squares. Cut out squares with scissors and place over each muffin cup. String ribbon through hole on muffin tin to hang on the wall.
The final step is to hang the Command™ Clear indoor hook. Don’t forget to double check the product packaging for weight restrictions. I used the hook labeled 2 pounds. We decided to hang our calendar next to our monthly schedule so we will see it every morning. The kids don’t want to forget about their treats. 🙂
The great thing about Command™ Clear Products is they come with transparent adhesive strips that blend into walls and other surfaces making them great to use for decorating, especially during the holidays. The best part about these hooks is that I can take them down when I am done. I love that Command™ Clear Hooks remove cleanly with no holes or sticky stuff on the wall. And if you need to move the hook, simply use a Command™ Clear Refill Strip, so you can take down, move and reuse again. Pretty awesome!
To apply the Command™ Clear Hook I made sure to follow the directions on the back of the box and cleaned the wall with rubbing alcohol. Next I removed the black “wall side” liner of the strip and applied to the wall. Easy! Press firmly and hold for 30 seconds. I then remove the blue liner and applied the hook to the strip. Press again for 30 seconds and wait 1 hour before use. Super easy! You may also check HERE for more information on how to use Command.
I picked up my Command™ Clear Hooks at Target in the home organizational section.
Start counting down the days to Halloween with this muffin tin calendar. This would also be great to make for a birthday month or Christmas. Make sure to check out a place for more great content at CreateWithCommand .
