3 glasses of blushing mimosas with cherries

Blushing mimosas are a holiday morning tradition, after coffee of course! Something about the tiny bubbles puts us all in a celebratory mood to start the holiday. I came across these blushing mimosas in Southern Living and have been hooked ever since.

This mimosa recipe perfect for Mother’s Day, Easter, showers or a brunch. These beautiful hot pink drinks are always a huge hit!

Ingredients Needed: Sparkling wine or champagne, orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine.

HOW TO MAKE BLUSHING MIMOSAS

  • Start by stirring together pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine in a pitcher.
Pour Pineapple Juice, Pour Grenadine, Pour sparkling wine
  • Next you can either add in a bottle of champagne, cava or prosecco to the pitcher OR pour half a glass of champagne and top with juice mixture.
  • I like to add a few maraschino cherries also for color. If you want to make it non-alcoholic, just replace ginger-ale for the champagne.

Tips for the perfect drink

  • Either use fresh, cold orange juice that has been strained or store bought pulp-free juice.
  • Don’t use the super duper cheap sparkling wine unless you are prepared for a headache. 🙂
  • One bottle of champagne/sparkling wine and one container of orange juice makes 12-15 glasses of mimosas.
  • Make sure to tilt the glass as you are pouring the sparkling wine. This helps to preserve those beautiful bubbles.

FAQ’s

WHY IS THE DRINK CALLED MIMOSA?

It is believed that the name comes from the mimosa flower which is yellowish in color.

WHAT CHAMPAGNE FOR MIMOSAS?

  • I would recommend not using an expensive bottle for mimosas because the juices and grenadine will change the flavor of the bubbly. A Cava or Prosecco is a great, inexpensive choice.

  1. These are so pretty! Once I get new grenadine (found out today mine is brown now sooooo…) I am going to make some!

    1. I would say 1 carton of orange juice per one bottle of champagne unless you want more juice to champagne ratio. You should be able to get 6-8 mimosas per one 750 bottle of champagne or sparkling wine.
